Day 1: Cusco – Aguas Calientes Town
We wake up early to begin the big adventure, we have ahead of us and we have all been waiting for. We pick you up from your hotel at 7:45am and then, drive for 25 minutes in our private van to the Poroy Train Station departing at 8:25am. Here we take the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes.
Voyage through the alpine meadows lying amongst the various colorful mountain peaks, the beautiful valleys, the Inca farming terraces built by hand in the form of amphitheaters, snowcapped mountains and sub-tropical jungle along the way to Aguas Calientes – the town at the base of Machu Picchu.
Once in Aguas Calientes, our team will wait for you to take take you to your hotel. Then you have the aftenoon at leisure!
Day 2: Machu Picchu – Cusco.
The Full Machu Picchu Experience!
This is the day you’ve been waiting for! After an early breakfast at your hotel, you’ll take one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu so that you can be there to witness the sunrise. It is a truly extraordinary site and not something you’ll want to miss! Your guide will give you the full guided tour, which takes about 2 hours in which you will explore the most important parts of Machu Picchu.
After your tour, those who have booked in advance for the extra hikes up Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain will have time to enjoy those views on their own. When you have had your fill of the exceptional views of Machu Picchu, you will take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Depending on your train departure time, you may also have time for some shopping, sightseeing or a visit to the museum or hot springs. Your train will depart at 14:55 or 16:43h.
The train will take you back to Ollantaytambo, following the spectacular Urubamba River. Close to Aguas Calientes, the canyon is narrow and the river has many beautiful sections of whitewater. You can also see Wiñay Wayna from the train, if you look up high on the steep canyon wall! Back at Ollantaytambo, your driver will meet you at the exit from the train station to take you back to your hotel in Cusco in our private vehicle. You can expect to arrive at your hotel by 19:00

We start our journey when we collect you from your hotel lobby and drive to the Poroy Train station located 25 minutes outside of Cusco, the Train journey to Machu Picchu is about three and a half hours to Aguas Calientes.
Our return trip is from Aguas Calientes to Poroy Train Station, which takes 3.5 hours. When we arrive to Poroy, we will drive in our private van for 25 minutes back to Cusco, arriving to your hotel between 9pm – 9:30pm.

Important Information
Please read the following information carefully; it will help answer all of your questions about our services and the 2 day Tours to Machu Picchu with the Vistadome Train
ARRIVAL TO CUSCO
We will pick you up from the Cusco airport and take you to your hotel in Cusco. Please let us know your flight details at least 14 days before arrival. Our representative will be holding an orange sign reading SAM Travel Peru outside the arrivals. You must exit the terminal to find our representative as they cannot enter. (Please let us know if your hotel is in the Sacred Valley so we can make the necessary arrangments).
THE BRIEFING
The briefing will take place the night before the trek at 6pm in our office, which is located at Calle Garcilaso 210, office 207 (second floor) in the La CASA DEL ABUELO shopping center.
CAN I STORE MY LUGGAGE AT YOUR OFFICE?
Absolutely! Your main luggage can be stored at our office or at your hotel, both are free.
HOW TO BOOK:

Please be ready with the following information (FROM EACH PARTICIPANT in your group). We cannot purchase an an entrance to Machu Picchu or the train without the following information:

SECOND, we require a deposit of US$211.00 per person in order to purchase your entrance to Machu Picchu and train ticket. You can make you deposit by clicking on the PAYPAL symbols on the top of our home page, or you can click on the PAYPAL symbols on our booking page.
WHAT ABOUT THE BALANCE?
It would be greatly appreciated if you pay in cash at our office (US dollars or Peruvian soles) here in Cusco. We have many ATMs within the historical center to withdraw money. You can also pay by PAYPAL online but you will have to pay a 5.5% service charge, charged by PAYPAL. To pay your balance through PAYPAL, you need to log into your PAYPAL account using our email address samtravelperu@gmail.com.
MAY I CHANGE THE DEPARTURE DATE AFTER THE TICKETS HAVE BEEN BOUGHT?
Unfortunately the answer is No. Once the tickets have been bought, the government does not allow any changes, so we can’t change any departure date after the tickets has been bought. Tickets are also non transferable nor refundable. If you cancel your 2 day Tour to Machu Picchu with Vistadome Train, the deposit is not refundable!
DO I NEED MY ORIGINAL PASSPORT FOR MACHU PICCHU TOURS?
DEFINITELY! You MUST bring your original physical passport (No Copies) with the same passport number you gave us to book your entrances, train tickets and other reservations. They will check your passport when you enter Machu Picchu and board the train.
In case you are renewing your passport or changing your name, please send us a COPY of your old passport to secure your permit, and we will change it when we receive a COPY your new passport and/or updated name for a fee of $25 USD per person. We must have a copy of your old and new passport to make the change. Before you change your passport keep a copy of your old one.
If you do not wish to pay this fee you must bring both passports to Peru with you. You can enter Peru with your new passport but you will need to show both passports, old and new to enter Machu Picchu and the train. If you do not have both you will not be allowed to enter.
Remember to check your current passport to make sure it doesn’t expire within 6 months of your arrival to Peru!!! The Government of Peru is enforcing the existing law that requires all foreign travelers to have a passport valid for a minimum of six months past the time of entry into Peru. Peruvian authorities will deny entry into Peru for travelers not meeting this requirement.
WHAT IS THE WEATHER LIKE IN THE MACHU PICCHU TOURS?
The weather is very unpredictable and always changing so it is difficult to say with any certainty. We recommend that you be prepared for warm weather, possible rain showers (Orange Nation provides rain ponchos) and a warm jacket in case of cold. We recommend that you dress in layers so you may take off or put on clothes as needed.
ARE WE DROPPED OFF AT OUR HOTEL AFTER THE 1 DAY MACHU PICCHU TOURS?
Absolutely! Included in our packages is dropping you off at your hotel on the return from your trek or tour. If you have booked your hotel in the Sacred Valley like Ollantaytambo or Urubamba, we will drop you there too!
If you spend the night at Ollantaytambo before the trek, we wil pick you up there.
TIPPING
If you’re happy with the services provided, a tip is appreciated. While it may not be normal to you, it’s of great significance for the people who will take care of you during the tour (and their families). It also inspires better service and is an major facet of the tourism industry. Obviously, you are free to tip more or less as you wish, depending on what you thought about the quality and the length of your tour.
