On the 26 May 2024 as part of our social projects, SAM Travel Peru took a journey to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Unlike the many other times the company has traveled to the Valley this was a very special journey and close to our hearts. This day the children of our wonderful hardworking Porters who give 100 per cent to SAM Travel and our clients, where taken to the Sacred Valley on a special private tour especially for them. This is the first time many of the children had left their isolated communities.
Places Visited
The day was filled with adventure and fun as the children were given private tours to many of the special ancient Inca sites located in the valley. The sites visited included the Pisac Archeological site, located on the hillside above Pisac town. Next, they traveled to the Salt Mines at Maras and later the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo. At all the sites the children were given a special guided tour geared to them by one of our knowledgeable guides.
Lunch was Served
A great day was had by all and the children were treated to a delicious lunch of Pollo al la Brasa, a Peruvian chicken dish served with chips that is a local favorite. This was the first time some had tried and all agreed it was simply the most wonderful meal they had ever eaten. After lunch they played games before returning home to their respective communities.
Traditional Clothing
The children dressed up for the day in traditional clothing, all looking wonderful in the colorful garments that are typical of their communities. Many great memories were made on the day and a great time was had by all.
